For nearly four decades, Dallas Burton was a trailblazer and innovator in the dairy industry — specializing in dairy cattle sales, Holstein genetics, embryo transfers, and pioneering print and online dairy marketing.
Born and raised on a family dairy farm in Chase County, Kansas, Dallas began his career as a field secretary for the Kansas Holstein Association. He later built a highly respected independent sales business that helped shape modern dairy genetics marketing.
As co-founder of Burton-Fellers Sales with partner Ed Fellers, he played a key role in popularizing elite Holstein embryo transfers and high-profile dairy auctions. Their flagship E.T. Extravaganza became one of the premier destination sales of the 1980s and 1990s. Dallas also created and managed landmark events including the Top Ten Sale, Stars of the Silent Screen Sale, numerous state Holstein sales, and served as the longtime manager of the prestigious National Holstein Convention Sale in Madison, Wisconsin.
In the digital era, Dallas founded DairyAgendaToday.com, one of the dairy industry’s first major online news and information websites. He later founded Burton & Associates, providing sales management, consulting, and marketing services to breeders across the country and internationally.
Dallas Burton passed away in 2015 at the age of 65. He is fondly remembered as a passionate, knowledgeable, and charismatic leader who left the Holstein and dairy world better than he found it. Friends, family, and colleagues recall his sharp business acumen, legendary sense of humor, deep devotion to family, and unmatched expertise in all things dairy.
